Amy Kennedy. 2025. Australian Wildlife. Watercolour on Watercolour Paper. 29.7 x 42 cm This painting is collection of my Favorite Australian wildlife. I painted a Kookaburra, Lorikeet, Crimson Rosella, Golding Finch, diamond Firetail and the Ulysses Butterfly. I used the techniques of Week 1 Drawing Exercise 2 for this watercolour artwork by drawing the birds and butterflies, focusing on light and dark areas and Exercise 1 by comparing marked points, considering and comparing the shape of the bird which helped me to create more accurate depiction of these creatures. This also helped me to figure out where my shading had to go and to turn it into bright watercolours. The meaning of this piece is my appreciation for these beautiful animals. The butterflies especially as when I was little seeing them cheered me up as I loved chasing them, however I haven’t seen them in a long time, making me think about the childish joy and memories they brought me.
