Content 2 was a wide range of still life techniques, extending my art technique in abstract ways. Ex 1, we were building up one colour and black from lightest and darkest, looking at different tones. Exercise 2 painting 1 was to abstract reality by drawing what you see, not your take on it, by never taking your eyes off the object or taking your pencil off the paper. Then we repeated the same this but this time by tracing with 3 different paints, overlapping them, filling in the gaps, considering light and dark. Gridding, I was using lines to judge distances, angles and sizes that help consider like and dark by filling in the spaces. Painting negative shapes helped me relate one object to another and draw difficult outcomes more easily in an intuitive way. Lastly, a viewfinder was used to visualise composition and create possibilities for abstraction by isolating a scene to look up details. My favourite part of this module was the viewfinder as I like using it to a certain object or close up on something, as it helped me paint a picture already, making it easier for me to paint details.
