Excavate with us

Hosted by three senior archaeologists at the University of Southern Queensland, this archaeology field school is open to the public. It is geared towards people who have a deep interest in archaeology, whether they be recent or soon-to-be university graduates of archaeology and ancient history, senior high school students, or interested members of the public.

The course consists of a 5-day, hands-on excavation experience at the Eagles Nest Depression-Era Camp, a genuine archaeological site in Redwood Park on the Great Dividing Range (Toowoomba). The field school is supported by three weeks of classroom content, consisting of printable lectures, zoom meetings with the archaeologists, and access to the online textbook. Participants will also have access to the Australian Archaeology Skills Passport, which charts your professional Development for current or future career aspirations.
