Artist Statement
‘Can We Stand Amongst the Gods?’ is an artwork about our gods and beliefs. Using the iconic image of Archangel Michael, I wanted to juxtapose the ‘holiness’ of the angels or the gods and show them killing the ‘earth’ represented through the demon. Through this, I wanted to show the pedestal that we place upon higher beings and how, sometimes, things don’t always live up to our expectations. Using a 3D printer, I used PLA filament to create this print and used it as the primary symbol within my talisman. Through this art piece, I wanted to create a piece that questioned beliefs and the value of those beliefs.
