VIS1020 Module 1 Crazy Creature Soft Sculpture
Artist Statement About Crazy Creature Soft Sculpture
For my resolved crazy creature for module 1, I wanted to experiment with combining the animals that I love most. I first started with a raccoon base consisting of the raccoon’s legs, arms, hands, feet, body and tail since I love how structurally interesting a raccoon’s anatomy is. I then added on a fox’s head since I have always been interested in the anatomy of a fox’s head, specifically its snout. I then finished the piece with my favourite animal, a Doberman, specifically their ears, since I have a Doberman, and its ears are structurally interesting. By combining my favourite animal anatomies, I created my crazy creature sculpture.

VIS1020 Module 1 Ceramics Pinch Pot Small Bowls and Cups
Artist Statement About Ceramic Pinch Pot Bowls and Cups
For my module 1 ceramics bowls and cups, I wanted to express the idea of food within ceramics. This idea comes from my emerging artistic concept surrounding my unhealthy coping mechanisms when it comes to food. The set of bowls on the surface is just a collection of foods made into ceramics. Underneath the surface, they are all foods that were once foods that were safe foods or things I would have with my safe foods (lemon and lime) that I would eat if I didn’t want to eat anything else. Similarly, the cups are also designed to look like foods that were once my safe foods. I wanted to represent this visually by making the ceramics as life-like as possible while still having them be functional cups and bowls.

VIS1020 Module 2 Sculpture Function & Ritual: Wearable Sculpture
Artist Statement About My Wearable Sculpture:
The meaning behind this piece is how I have found my new aesthetic after moving out of home. When I was a child, I would dress very grunge with my wardrobe consisting of a majority of my dad’s clothing, black clothing and band shirts. Once moved out of home and started my education placement, I realised I couldn’t wear the clothing that I had worn my entire life because it would be inappropriate to wear on a placement. Due to this, I forced myself to branch out to more feminine, coloured clothing. I found that finding this aesthetic brought out a new, separate personality from the one that I had when I first moved out. By creating this piece in a light aesthetic and choosing a fairy wing structure because they are seen as more feminine, I believe that it brings out this meaning but also lets the audience come up with their own meaning behind the wings.

VIS1020 Module 2 Ceramics: Function and Form
Artist Statement About my Functional and Dysfunctional Orange Jugs:
Both of these jugs were influenced by my module 1 cups and bowls concerning fruit/ food. I wanted to improve my techniques with creating leaves and forms similar to my module 1 apple cup and my cups and bowls in general. The meaning behind this piece is simply that I wanted to extend what I had learnt about in module 1.

Artist Statement About The Hands That Have Shaped Me objects and site sculpture installation:
The colours on the hands represent each person who loves me and how they shaped me.
The red hand depicts my dad’s hand since the first thing I think about when it comes to my dad is his red dragon tattoo on his back that he got when I was a kid, which I also now have to match him. My dad has played a significant part in shaping me into who I am today. He has taught me to always be true to myself and not care what other people think, and to do what makes me happy. He has always supported me in everything I have done, especially when it comes to artistic practices such as film, photography and generalised art. With his influence and his love,I am positively changing into the best person I can be.
The royal blue hand is to represent my mum’s hand. I made the hand blue since my mum’s favourite colour since I was a child was blue, specifically a royal blue, resulting in me only thinking about my mum when I see that shade of blue. My mum’s love has shaped me into the person I have become by giving me unconditional love that helps me feel supported through everything I do in life, such as my creative pathways. Without my mum’s love forming my passion via her wanting me to always try something, no matter what people say, I don’t believe I could have become the person I am today.
The purple one is for my partner because ever since I met them they have always said it’s their favorite colour allowing for the colour purple being a comfort colour for me since it makes me think of them. Their love has formed me into the person I am today by showing me how far I can go in the world when there are people in my corner.
The light blue hand is for my Nana. Ever since I can remember, her nickname has been blue. I know from asking her throughout my childhood that she likes light blue, resulting in light blues in everything, such as the sky, making me think of her. I specifically chose my nana because she has shaped me in many ways, especially creatively. After all, ever since I was little, she has tried to teach various creative techniques such as knitting, painting and collages.
The light brown colour is to represent my brother Benji since as long as I can remember he has always had dirty hands from working on things such as cars. His love has shaped me into who I am today in so many ways but it has especially shaped me in the way of determination. This is because I have always seen him do what he wants no matter what which has influenced me in my life to do the same no matter what people say.
The mission brown hand is to represent my Pa, since everyone who knew him knew that he loved Mission Brown paint and would put it on anything he could. Because of that anytime I think of Mission Brown paint I think of him and how he is a big part of my creative being because of how he would let me be creaitve with him in his shed.

Vis1020 Ceramics: Module 3 Ritual Objects & Site
Artist Statement About Things That Remind Me of My Nana ceramic ritual objects and site:
The reasoning behind the three pieces is that they remind me of my Nana and I normally go and see her at least once a year. The reason I did these specific objects was that when I was little she gave a watermelon wallet and I keep it with me to feel safe and to think of her. Similarly, when I see a Tabu bottle, I think of my Nana because that has been the perfume that she has worn for decades. By creating these pieces I can have them around my room as little reminders of her since she lives so far away. Because of this I named the collection things that remind me of my nana.
