visual arts, 2023. I have learned so many techniques and skills over this semester that I have discovered new styles and designs that I loved to work with the most and that I will adopt in my own works outside of my degree. I loved working with soft designs, flora, fairytale inspirations, and colors like soft blues, pinks, purples, and greens. What I discovered is that I created a consistency across both painting and printmaking of soft pastel hues. in printmaking, the activity I enjoyed the most was lino carving and printing. in the past, I never enjoyed lino printing as I had no experience in the skills required to make a successful print, so moving forward this semester I was really nervous to create a new piece, however, I was really surprised I enjoyed carving the baby deer and flower design and learning to print single layers on different colors of paper and textures. In painting, I was really confident in discovering new techniques and styles of layering, paint strokes, and colour analysis as I really enjoy painting in acrylic. overall I have really enjoyed this semester.

I have just finished my first semester of Visual Arts. At first, I was nervous to begin ceramics and sculpture as I hadn’t had much experience in 3D work and design however as I began to research the arts and techniques I felt confident in my own progression in my skills as I began to create more and more 3D works. I was inspired by the Idea of creating a natural, environmental habitat that relies on the interactive experience of sound, touch, and visuals with the audience in my final installment. I drew this idea from Patricia Pattinni and her numerous installations that create a welcoming new environment for every viewer that interacts in her gallery as it requires them to involve themselves in the work by feel, visuals, and sound as they walk through each installment. In ceramics I drew my choice for using vibrant colours from Pippin Drysdale, an artist i had research for my first reseach assignment. I felt her use of colour was visually engaging and appealed to my personal style so I tried new colour conbinations and painting styles when I could to expand on my expereince in collabing colour to 3D design.
