2.2 Content selection and organisation
Organise content into an effective learning and teaching sequence.
2.6 Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
Implement teaching strategies for using ICT to expand curriculum learning opportunities for students.
Throughout my teaching experiences, I have organised the planning and delivery of content in Health and Physical Education and Business subjects, on each occasion I have sought to include the use of ICT to implement my teaching strategies and learning opportunities for students (2.2, 2.6).
When planning a unit of work for Year 9 HPE, each student had their own device, which I planned to utilise within lessons to create activities and learning experiences (2.2, 2.6). Due to the current level of ICT knowledge within the class, I decided that I could leverage this and facilitate engagement and improve on learning opportunities (2.6) (McKnight et el., 2016).
I incorporated ICT learning activities throughout the unit of work, one example of this was the “Pour your own drink”, online resource Artefact “ICT”. The activity was designed to engage all students and to allow for differentiation within the class, by interacting with the ICT (2.6), I was able to engage students, and expand on their learning opportunities.
Students demonstrated and increased levels of critical thinking as they engaged with the activity, applying the content to real-world situations, creating their own understanding of the topic. By implementing teaching strategies that cater to the learning needs of all students, with content that was relevant and effective, aligned to the unit of work, I was able to demonstrate my ability to incorporate ICT within my teaching strategies (2.2, 2.6), to create effecting learning outcomes with enhanced student engagement.
