Professional engagement is not just an expected behaviour of teachers, it is a legal requirement. The Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL, 2014) outlines the standards in which I as a Professional teacher must model, this includes my own personal learning needs. Undertaking professional development is a key aspect of teaching, ongoing learning is required to ensure that my knowledge is current and I am utilising the latest tools and research to deliver optimal teaching and learning for my students. (Harper-Hill, et el., 2022).
I acknowledge that ongoing Professional learning allows me to understand and adopt new practices in my teaching, with the end result of improving student outcomes. My learning will also leverage knowledge by engaging with my peers and the wider educational community. I understand that there are many opportunities for my educational development as I begin my teaching journey and I am committed to continual development and learning throughout my career as a Professional teacher.
