2022
Artist Statement
Throughout this year, I hope to explore the internal plane of vulnerability and fragility as expressed visually through painting and drawing mediums. Concepts I am working with include interiority of the mind, the idea of “public personas” and removing utilitarian ideology from my creative process. Moving away from external pressures I feel influence the direction of my work, I am investigating the interplay of technical application and conceptual orientation as a way to let go of my personal insecurities. Driven by a passion for music, people and memory, I am using oil paint to draw on my interest in light and how it can shine through layers to highlight this interior exploration, and the visceral reaction texture evokes from both myself and those who interact with my art.
