An ITD Hub Project
Once I started teaching—well, way before teaching (more on that later)—I realised it takes SO MUCH TIME to find, curate and store resources.
Videos for my YR9 LED Lamp project are one example. There was a lot of theory in Term 2, and you know how much students love theory if a lesson in the workshop building stuff is the alternative.
While populating my PowerPoints with YouTube clips, I thought to myself…
I need to search, curate, collect and store YouTube videos somewhere?…
So, I created Kingi’s WorkShop YouTube Channel to curate great ITD videos in organised playlists.
Eventually I will create my own demonstration videos in the workshop for other teachers to use.
First, I had to create a funky intro 😉 (Thank You Canva)
And then there are the Socials like Facebook, Instagram…
These will be populated in the near future.
I will document the evolution of this concept in Kingi’s Workshop
APST’S
Creating a YouTube channel specifically for ITD resources.
2.1 Knowledge and understanding: This standard emphasises a teacher’s ongoing learning and knowledge of the curriculum and effective teaching strategies. Curating ITD resources demonstrates a strong understanding of relevant content and the potential of online platforms for knowledge sharing.
2.5 Professional engagement: This standard highlights teachers’ commitment to professional learning and collaboration. Creating a YouTube channel for ITD resources showcases initiative and a willingness to share knowledge with colleagues and the broader educational community.
4.1 Create and implement engaging learning experiences: A well-organised YouTube channel with curated ITD resources can be a valuable tool for students to access informative and engaging content beyond the classroom setting.
5.1 Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning: The YouTube channel will house instructional videos or resources that can be used for formative assessment purposes.
6.1 Demonstrate ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) proficiency: Creating and managing a YouTube channel requires various ICT skills, including video editing, online platform management and potentially basic web design.
6.2 Use ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) effectively to support learning and teaching: The YouTube channel is an ICT tool that can be effectively integrated into lesson plans to provide students with a readily accessible and engaging source of ITD-related content.
By creating and maintaining a well-organized YouTube channel with curated ITD resources, educators can demonstrate aspects of these APST/s categories. It showcases the effective use of technology, an initiative for professional development, and the creation of valuable learning resources for students.
