Hi everyone,

This is a really talented printmaker LaToya Hobbs I came across today. Although it is woodcut printing, I thought it really valuable to watch to gain insights on her techniques, especially with a detailed and impactful figure of a person.
Interesting process of how Hobbs’ smaller drawings processes occurred smaller and at different stages, possibly, as shown on the left, and she kept these viewable on-hand, as she worked on the final, larger print sketch design.

I thought it really captured Elizabeth Catlett’s personality and persona.
Also, thought it was interesting how – given the artwork’s size – Hobbs understandably used two large papers for the print. I thought she joined them together seamlessly.
