Well, yesterday, I modified the colours of the LGBTQIASB+ design.

After some research yesterday, I realised I accidentally muddled up the colours of the new Pride flag. I’m glad I discovered this now, as I would have been really disappointed in myself if I got this wrong, in the final product. Especially as to be an LGBTQIASB+ ally, I need to make sure I am inclusive of all, in the design.

I realised I accidentally hadn’t included baby blue and baby pink for Transgender, and as such, I’ve chosen to include these as either the insert paper colour of the connecticut book cover ends. This will be 1/2 baby blue (top horizontal half) and 1/2 baby pink (bottom horizontal half – so as to create a Transgender flag – Dedication page, and

yellow background and purple intersex circle symbol (so as to create a page using the intersex flag for – a more information page, including three links, where interested observers can get in touch with advocate groups, in Australia. One of these links will be the First Nations Australians’ Sistagirl and Brotherboy page, as I think this is a very marginalised group and needs increased awareness and representation.

I was toying with having baby blue and baby pink as the front and back cover colours, respectively, however I chose to stick with forest green, in representation of growth – both in increased LGBTQIASB+ representations (in media, etc.), and increased and improved community understanding and support for queer and sexually diverse Peoples.

Additionally, I’ve made the decision to swap the magenta and lavender block paint colours, originally for I and A, respectively, for indigo and violet. This way, I am adhering to the new Pride flag’s colours, which I didn’t realise until yesterday, has meanings attached to each specific colour. For example, green represents growth, which further supported my decision to stick with green as the book cover design.

So, in summation,

L- Lesbian – will be red, white back-ground

G – Gay – Letter G will be orange, red background

B- Bisexual – Letter B will be yellow, orange background

T – Transgender – Letter T will be Green, yellow background

Q – Queer (can also incorporate Questioning) – Letter Q will be (Dark) Blue, green background

I – Intersex – Letter I will be indigo, (dark) blue background

A – Asexual – Letter A will be violet, indigo (or possibly lavender) background

S – Sistaboy – Letter S will be black, violet background

B – Brotherboy – Letter B will be brown, black background

+ – Everyone – Plus symbol will be white, brown background – brown also representative of soil/ in line with whole concept of book ‘as a tree’ growing, hence the forest green book covers, and flower designs throughout letters’ background colours.
