About

ARTIST STATEMENT

Through my art practice, I seek agency and empowerment of self and communities as a response to excessive consumption lifestyles. In this way, I am interested in investigating a collective shift towards lifestyles that complement nature, with ways of being human that enrich and give back to the systems of which we are a part.

I explore these concepts through growing deeper connections with the places that I inhabit. The fertile edge between elements of place and the growing counterculture movements that build community resilience informs this exploration. A vital part of my place-based practice is the development of creative methodologies that have the lightest possible environmental and social footprint.

My practice is guided by the principles of Permaculture, which include, but are not limited to; ‘Produce No Waste’, ‘Creatively Respond to Change’, ‘Use and Value Renewable Resources and Services’, and ‘Integrate Rather than Segregate’. Developed as a whole-systems way of thinking, I find these principles incredibly valuable as a framework for the processes and materials of my practice.
