EXHIBITION STATEMENT
To be a forager is to see the potential in the world around you. To be a forager one must be observational and aware, ever tuned into the possibilities of a place. Foraged is a homage to our collective passion for foraging for objects, materials and memories to use in our art practices. Collectively, we work with a myriad of mediums including, but not limited to; ceramics, fibre arts, printmaking, sculpture, projection, video, audio and installation.
To be a forager is to be a wanderer. To be footloose and let intuition be your guide. To let moments set you on a path of discovery no matter if one is physically wandering a landscape or wandering through a story or memory. To be a forager is to also be a wonderer. A dreamer. An optimist. To wonder about the potential of a foraged item, its origins, its story, and its use to you.
For us, this type of foraging happens naturally, we do not intend to scour a landscape for materials. It just happens instinctively. Some people may call this type of collecting ‘hording’, but for us, it is the gathering of pieces of our souls.
