Artist’s Biography and Statement

Artist Statement
As a potter and printmaker, my work is an exploration of themes that resonate deeply and positively for me.

A current theme in my work is the imagery of koi. Symbolically rich, fish represent resilience, adaptability, and the flow of life. They often reflect the timeless nature of human struggles and triumphs, through societal changes and expectations.

The issue of ageism as the invisible discrimination in the workplace is a recurring idea in my pieces. I seek to highlight and challenge the stereotypes and biases faced by older persons, particularly women in professional environments. Through my art, I aim to spark conversations and provoke thought around the value of experience and the beauty of aging.

From the tactile quality of clay to the intricate patterns created in prints, my art is a medium for expressing personal interests and observations. My style has an impressionistic inclination, characterised by the capturing of lines of energy and movement. Impressionism allows me to create a sense of both emotion and vigor.  Ultimately, my art is a call to appreciate the wisdom and strength that come with time, and to recognize that every stage and choice of direction in life has its own unique beauty and significance.
