Sculpture Resolves

Crazy Creature – Work 1

This sculpture was created as part of a series that explores soft sculptures and the narratives attached to them.

Thistlewick is the physical embodiment of a creature from my written lore, a combination of nymph, moth and deer, a guardian spirit shaped by the whispering wilderness of my imagination. I combined hand-sewn detailing with machine construction, using materials that evoke soft, moss-like textures and natural forms.

Inspired by wood nymphs, moths, and deer, his leaf-shaped ears, gentle antlers, and soft body reflect the quiet magic of forest life. Golden resin eyes serve as the focal point, glimmering with the mystical energy described in my narrative and inviting the viewer into his world.

Through his form, I aimed to evoke a whimsical, protective presence—a small but powerful guardian of the forest bridging story and sculpture.

Materials used:

Cotton thread, green soft suede, grey synthetic, soft light olive green leather, green cotton, pink plush synthetic and resin.

Subject:

Nature, woods and protection.

Talisman: Work-2

The Talisman of Verdant Echo is part of my Elemental Talismans series, created using small glass bottles filled with carefully gathered herbs, spices, and earthy materials to embody the energies of their respective elements. In my narrative, these vessels are Element Jars carried by the Sylvan Moth-Deer Nymph, each containing a fragment of the world he protects.

The Verdant Echo holds special significance, containing the Heartseed, an evergreen seed said to have grown from the first tree in the Whispering Realms. In the story, it hums softly when danger approaches, guiding the nymph to places that need healing and allowing him to channel life-energy to revive plants, cleanse water, and mend subtle cracks between dimensions.

By gathering and arranging the natural materials within the bottle, I aimed to make the mythology tangible. The textures of herbs, earth fragments, and the seed evoke something ancient and quietly alive. The talisman represents harmony, protection, and the resilience of nature, inviting viewers to imagine the gold-eyed forest guardian carrying this vessel of green energy between worlds.

 Materials used:

Glass mini jars, various herbs and spices, paper, wood, feathers, sand, shells, and other various earthy trinkets

Subject:

Elements – Water, wind, fire, and earth.

Wearable Sculpture: Work-3

This piece was part of a series exploring wearable sculptures and their installations.

Fashion Is Your Armour explores the idea that clothing functions as a form of protection. Like armour, what we wear can conceal, empower, or intimidate, shaping how others perceive us while hiding what lies beneath.

Inspired by nature, I looked to birds, insects, and forest creatures whose feathers, skins, and shells are both alluring and defensive. Using fibreglass resin, I created a hard, protective surface for the piece, reflecting the tension between outer strength and inner vulnerability. Although the planned wire heart and rib cage were not completed, the work still conveys the layered, protective qualities I intended.

The intended installation envisions the armour worn on the female body, posed from playful to intimidating, highlighting the complexity of identity and the unseen layers we all carry beneath our exterior.

Materials used:

Synthetic woven material in blue and gold filigree, and fiber glass resin.

Cotton Rag card and Cardboard.

Subject:
Clothing as personal armour.
