Professional practice

The Professional practice domain entails teachers’ daily responsibilities and tasks in the classroom and the environment they create (MCEECDYA, 2018). Alongside effective teaching strategies, I need to ensure I am effectively using each stage of the planning and teaching cycle (MCEECDYA, 2018). This includes developing appropriate learning programs that align to the Australian curriculum, marking students work and providing verbal and written feedback, teaching the content and completing diagnostic, formative and summative assessments (QCAA, 2022). I will also need to prioritise relationships with families/carers and provide them with feedback on their students social/emotional and academic achievements (QCAA, 2022).

Through ongoing and effective communication techniques I will ensure fair and equitable behaviour management plans to create positive climates for learning and to support student behaviour (Victoria State Government, 2023). An inclusive and safe learning environment will support each student through a strong classroom routine and expectations, to not only see each student succeed, but flourish (AITSL, 2020).
