The Life in the Harsh

The intent and result of my finale piece was inspired by artist Olafur Eliasson, research and my personal belief in the importance of relationships during harsh times enabling us to push forward despite circumstance. The medium is inspired by the Artists’ method I using nature such as light, water n air temperature. With the use of heavy oil pastels and earthy hot colours such as red, orange, yellow and brown it represents the weight of circumstance and how the heat of a desert is overbearing. The bright colours represent life. Despite the heat and deadness of a desert the connection of a friend with always get you through, shown through the pants as a symbol of life. Emphasised by the bright colours of blue, purple and green of the girls’ clothes despite the heavy atmosphere and although it might not seem like it at times, the connection is always there.

Hand of Friendship

The intent of my painting is inspired by research on artists and by how I personally perceive friendships, cherish and personally identify with them. The two different coloured hands reaching out to cradle the symbol of friendship blended with the same colours was inspired by artist Tracy Thomason and her use of symbols to present her intent. This is also shown in my artwork by how the colours on each hand are different but blended in the symbol highlighting people who are different and can identify with and cherish one another. Emotions are also displayed through the meanings behind the bright colours inspired by Jake Fadojutimi making it eye catching and please to the eye while emphasising its focus through shading. My personal intent of the painting was inspired by two artists, Louise Bourgeois nd Delawer Omar, Whose artworks centre around emotions and personal experiences.
