Artist Biography
Maria Siddall was born in England in 1966. She migrated to New Zealand in 2002, then relocated to Australia in 2015. She began painting in 2019. Maria is a passionate schoolteacher but aspires to become a full-time professional artist. She has earned an (Hons) Degree in English Language and Literature, a Teaching Post Graduate Degree and a Diploma in Education. A self-taught artist who has recently begun to study Visual Art at UNISQ. Siddall loves experimenting with all types of media. Her recent work is focussed on ultra realism. She believes getting the nuance of every detail enables the artist to fully emerge in the subject, allowing the artwork to capture the essence of subject in a way a photograph cannot. An artist can bring out the soul and personality of the sitter. She had an exhibition at The Hive in Queanbeyan in 2022 and sold three paintings. She said “It was amazing knowing I was creating something others wanted. Seeing the buyers faces light up when a painting resonated with them was inspiring. They were not just buying a picture but something which made a connection inside of them.” She wants to be the best that she can be and strives to make every artwork better than the last.
