Bisque: First Fire
Bisque firing hardens the clay, making it more durable and easier to decorate (such as glazing).
Under Glaze: Pre-Final Fire
Underglaze acts similar to a watercolour paint, allowing the addition of colour to pottery. Beware, too many layers may make it difficult for an overglaze to bond to the ceramics. The colours of the underglaze at this stage appear much lighter and chalkier than they will end up after their final firing.
