Intermediate Painting Studio Practice – USQ VIS2010 – Semester 1

Module 3

This module leans further into the portrait element of painting subjects, however it does so without utilising an underpainting layer. It is seperated by a portait of representative colours (a “true to life” pallete) and a potrait made from non-representative colours.

Painting 1: portrait with representative colours.

Painting 2: portait with non-represntative colours

Resolved Work

This resolved work is a continuation of the prior resolved work. I changed one of the colours so that it was not simply a repeat, with the pose changed to full portrait. I then drastically increased the contrast, leaning into a non-representative colour pallete.
