As a part of my master’s studies in organisational psychology, I conducted research into the efficacy of delivering resilience training to individuals by method, is face to face best, and can web-based training or automated step through programs increase information retention and encourage action. We were lucky enough to partner with some of our energy industry partners across the country and deliver resilience training by their methods, the overall aim of which was to compare the efficacy of these. overall 1200 participants were involved in this research with 400 randomly assigned to each group. In this instance, we failed to disprove the null hypothesis being “the method of delivery for resistance training has less affect on participant outcome than the information contained within”. The data collected showed that interestingly that the web-based training when the participant is in a room by themselves resulted in the most amount of information retained when this was assessed 6 months after the initial training. Both the web based and the automated delivery styles however failed to encourage action as much as the face to face facilitation.
