Teaching means you’re in a constant state of learning. Learning new curriculum, behaviour management, professional development and updated policies and procedures. I love to learn new things and am looking forward to this part of teaching. I thrive on feedback and try to implement it straight away. I am less eager to give colleagues and other adults feedback in case it is perceived as rude or unwarranted. I believe students benefit from teachers on going learning as they learn new and different ways to teach and how to handle different situations such as behaviours and intellectual disabilities. I believe that a good relationship with parents/caregivers is key to helping students to succeed and feel valued. Getting involved with the outside school community is a great way to help with cultural knowledge and help with bringing in parents and Elders to help with teaching different things, such as language, science and HASS. Collaborating with colleagues is a great way to see how differentiation works for them and I can implement those teaching strategies in my own lessons.
