Professional Knowledge Beliefs

I believe knowing the whole student in both how they learn and who they are as an individual who’s needs might be different to those of their peers should feel included and that they are getting an equitable education in my classroom. I believe that each student is unique and will need to be catered for in differentiating learning, knowing any extra professional help students might need. I feel that including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture in the curriculum shows respect to those of this background in my classroom. Students should be taught to their strengths and knowing the content is very important. This means knowing the curriculum how to backward map so as to teach to the assessment that they will take at the end of a unit. Regular feedback should be given so students can see what more to work on. Differentiating learning for those that need it both on the lower and higher levels of learning is very important and being aware of how culture impacts learning is important too. I believe students with physical, emotional and intellectual disabilities should be included equitably at all times.
