Infinite Consciousness (2/2)

The computer brain, Artificial Intelligence. When does the use of technology, implanted in humans, cross the line from assistive into domination? What defines humanity? How far can we push the human consciousness before it becomes ‘other’?

Infinite Consciousness (1/2)

Humans have unlimited potential. Any natural limitations can become superseded by technological advancements. There is no end of possibilities for where humanity will end up in the future. The galaxy within this head represents those endless possibilities. there is no definable end to space, just as there is no end to the potential consciousness humans may achieve.

Cyborgs and Androids (2025)

A continuation of my earlier work, exploring the limitless ways in which humans and technology may be integrated into each other.

Family Time, 2025

A representation of the dining table set for my own large family. An important aspect of relationships, bonding and interaction. Chinese is a common cuisine enjoyed at such occasions, as it allows for a variety of options, tastes, and preferences, to be shared and enjoyed in a communal manner. The bowls are a variety of trimmed and untrimmed pieces; each with various human technological imagery depicted.

The inference is that even with human evolution and technological advances, wherever we might find ourselves in this galaxy, or another; these bonding human interactions and family connections will remain important to the human psyche.

Infinite Possibilities, 2025

This ceramic quilt explores the possibilities that lay before humanity with ongoing technological advancements in relation to space travel. It is the frontier we have yet to conquer and explore fully, and it is within our reach to do so with the right drive and determination. Humans have no idea what such exploration might uncover.

Vases

These two vases were created as an exploration into the idea of the technological and organic worlds integrating. The shape and form or the vases were kept very organic, embracing the imperfections. The surface of it primarily kept raw, without colouring or glaze. The small glazed parts are microchips and circuitry, like those found in computers or other electronic devices. More and more the natural world and the technological world become enmeshed. What are the limits to this enmeshment? Are there any?

Hampton Court Palace

Hampton Court Palace is one of my favourite architectural sites I have visited. Home of Henry the VIII, the original footprint was built in the 1500’s, with more and more added on over the centuries, creating a fascinating mix of architectural styles throughout. I have taken different aspects from different parts of the palace, with different scales and proportions for this assemblage. I would have liked to have made more peices to go within, as there are so many more parts of the building that are inspiring.

Androids and Cyborgs

Over the 43 years of my life so far, there has been so much evolution in the world of technology. From dial phones, to the mobile phones of the late 90’s, to the smart phones of today, innovations keep happening. And with the more recent introduction of AI, and the advances being made constantly in the world of robotics, it is impossible not to question where this is all leading, what differences might come about in the future. The androids and cyborgs in these artworks are possibilities. Will androids and AI become sentient? Will humans implant technology into ourselves, making us more then human? What will this integration look like? How will it affect us? How will it affect our humanity?
