This semester I continued using oil paints to improve on the skills gained the previous semester. The works were an exercise in further understanding how oil paints work and how I prefer to use them, and to learn more about composition and colour.
This work was generated using a number of ‘impuls works’. The 10 minute A4-size exercises with various mediums (acrylics, watercolour, pencil, pastels) were cut up and reassembled. This composition was then painted in oil on canvas. It became a through-the-porthole work, where all sorts of things may be happening on the other side.

This work is a compilation of images that represent the outside world (quiet, calm, introverted mostly) vs what a person could actually be like at the same time on the inside (colourful and full of life).

In this work a bird is wondering about the world created by humans. It is hopeful that the new colourful world is considerate of nature as well as providing an improved social fabric.
