As a graduate teacher, I must ensure I continue to be a lifelong learner, taking control of my professional development to ensure my teaching practice is always up to standard. While continuing to improve my teaching practice and actively engage professionally with colleagues, parents/carers, and the broader community to better the outcomes for my students. (Queensland College of Teachers, 2019) Being a lifelong learner, I will continue to identify my own individual learning needs and analyse, evaluate and expand my professional learning both collegially and individually. (Queensland College of Teachers, 2019) As a graduate, I understand that the professional learning I undertake must explicitly link to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST). I also recognize the importance of seeking out relevant sources of professional learning. I intend to engage with my colleagues, mentors and seek constructive feedback to help shape my teaching practices. I will continue to observe the practices of experienced mentors and colleagues to help support my own learning. I recognize that working effectively and confidentially with parents/carers and the wider community means consulting them where they are individuals and understanding that each may have their own unique barriers. When engaging with parents/carers I will elaborate more when making decisions and supporting the learners as partners.
