I started my working career as a retail assistant at then Safeway supermarkets now known as Woolworths supermarkets, then did a retail traineeship with Coles supermarkets. While I was working in retail I took a few short courses to begin my big journey into the field of Information Technology.
I joined the Australian Army in 2001 as a Signalman in the corps of Signals where I started my main practical experience within Information Technology. After serving I contracted back to the Department of Defence working at the Defence Network Operations Centre at HMAS Harman in the Australian Capital Territory, in the role as a server and systems administrator. I was given the opportunity to be part of the Blackberry mobile device implementation into Defence project where I was one of the technical specialists.
I worked at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade as a server and systems administrator where I gained a solid knowledge in server administration and application support also providing BlackBerry user support to the Senior Leadership group.
After working for the Federal government departments I worked at NetIntellect for a short period as a Senior Systems engineer before moving to Sydney to progress a career in mobility support at MSC Mobility as a level 2 technical assistant and then promoted to service desk team leader.
I then worked as a Department of Justice telecommunications officer, where I followed the IT quality framework practices to support a large Government organisation, provided technical support to the Department’s mobility devices, provided phone and onsite support to troubleshoot/resolve user’s telecom issues, coordinated phone relocation projects and carried out cable patching, managing user orders and hardware setup for the user.
Having worked with Macquarie University Hospital as a Porter for the requirements of this position I had undergone a NSW Working with Children check and a physical assessment, I have gained a good knowledge of Hotel Services policies and procedures including infectious control and whilst in this position I learned a basic understanding of the seven safety food principles.
For the last several years I have worked in a few different occupations from running my own gardening business, to working as a security guard, to working for Wilson Security which led me into a role as a Pass Office Operator for the Department of Defence. With these roles I have gained lots of skills both in Information technology and customer service.
