1.5 Differentiate teaching to meet the specific learning needs of students across the full range of abilities.

The above image is a break down of the diagnostic assessment used to gain pre-data of mathematic topics, length, area, mass and volume. The questions vary in difficulty to ensure all students can demonstrate their full understanding and provide the teacher with a true indication of their knowledge and understanding.
The boys were placed in mixed ability pairs to enable differentiation through peer support. Meeting standard 1.5 demonstrate knowledge and understanding of strategies for differentiating teaching to meet the specific learning needs of students across the full range of abilities.
Data from formative assessment of observations and anecdotal records allowed me individualise student tasks to ensure it was within a students zone of proximal development. I did this by drawing regular and irregular shapes in students grid books for them to calculate the area of some that I knew would give them success and some that were challenging to extend their thinking.
