These two drypoint etchings were created using a dry point mark making tool similar to a think needle. I also indented using a hammer and nail, and used sanding paper; a sewing tracing tool and a small hand-held battery Dremel to mark the hard plastic sheet I was using. Christmas Creek in Beaudesert holds wonderful childhood camping memories for me and is a place I regularly visit with my own family now. The water is crisp, clear and cold, coming down from the mountains and its great fun rock hopping through the shallow parts of the creek. The lush pastoral paddocks on either side are a vibrant green and feed the milking cows who trek through them for milking each day. Fallen leaves was inspired by the oranged hued carpet of Liquid Amber leaves creating on my front lawn. Some of these beautiful leaves had lost their Autumn shades of reds, soft browns and orange as they crumpled and faded. I have aways enjoyed this particular tree as it reflected the seasons each year, losing all its leaves before renewing in spring with fresh green shoots.
