My understanding of values and ethics in psychology

Ethics in psychology is an extremely important area that seriously cannot be overlooked. Counselling Psychology, PSY3050, was the most impactful class when it came to ethics. In this class, our assessment was to demonstrate our thorough understanding of the ethical considerations one needs to make when establishing a relationship with a new client and the processes of seeking outside help if the situation requires it.

Another example of assessment that included a values and ethics element was the first assessment item in PSY3010. This assessment involved identifying issues related to the ethical practice of psychological assessment. Students were asked to read two scripts, identify the ethical concerns, and write a paragraph on how a psychologist should appropriately respond in each of the scenarios.
