Sarah Kakakios was born 07.04.2006 and is a young emerging artist who mainly utilizes the materials of graphite on paper and acrylic paints on canvas. Currently studying a minor of Visual Arts at the University of Southern Queensland, as well as a Bachelor of Theatre (Acting), and minor of Theatre (Making), Kakakios deeply explores abstract, surrealism and realism art within their crafts. She has recently created a series of artworks (three drawings and three paintings) that depict the contemporary context that time can be captured, wasted, harsh on memory, yet will forever witness your journey to the present moment. These artworks were perceptively influenced by the realism artist, Monica Lee which is evident within Kakakio’s use of graphite and coloured pencil within her recent series, specifically within the drawings Hush, Once Upon A Time, and Perspective. Evidently, Kakakios was also perceptively inspired by Euan Macleod’s illusion of movement through acrylic paints which she adapts within the series of her paintings, Waiting, Lense and Witness.
Throughout the visual arts subject, VIS1012 – Foundational Studio Practice Kakakios used the skills of Portraiture, Perspective and Still Life to create her drawings. Within her paintings, the learned skills of Grey Scale, Underpainting and Inverting an Image was used.
