I was inspired by Beth Lo’s approach on how to depict a child’s mind has overtly influenced my interests with ceramics. However instead of voicing what it is to be a child in that search for belonging in their environment, I decided to focus on the child within the adult who seeks to accept themselves as the environment to belong in. I would like to do this through colour, and non-perfect shapes, indicating that to be playful and childlike, you must start by not idealising what should be, and simply love what is. All artworks have the underlining concept of thoughts being the power.
Cups represent the stories that come with the cups, the characters one becomes when playing with them. Evidently the artwork represent the deliberate lack of control and freedom that comes with being a child.
