For Module 4 resolved works I wanted to attempt making a set of plates. It was a big learning curve for me, but I was able to successfully create two nesting sets – one set of three plates and one set of five, and a group of three mugs. I layered finishes of transparent, satin and gloss glazes, using gestural and organic marks to create a wabi-sabi aesthetic using shades of green.

These are about finding a calm, meditative stillness against the rush of modern living. These plates relate to my resolved work for Module 4 Painting 2023.
