Portrait Of My Favourite Person – Behind the working

Portrait Of My Favourite Person 2024 | Graphite on Paper

I am inspired by the people around me, and most inspired by my partner. I was tasked to create a portrait of somebody, albeit the standard idea
was to be a more professional headshot, but I cannot bare to miss out on capturing the personality of my subjects. With their consent I had so
much fun creating this piece that displays their informality.

The process behind this artwork started with a grid pattern. I had printed the grid onto my working paper as to not accidentally erase it, but it also
meant those lines made it into the resolved artwork, something I will change for future portraits. Above you see the piece before final touches and
completing the hair. This is initially where I wanted to finish the piece, thinking that the hair was unnecessary to represent character, however I am
very happy that I completed it.

Below are the initial experiments.
