WEEK 10

Activity 1

  • What spaces could you occupy and it would be considered an act of resistance? Does this spark anything in your imagination in regards to your artwork?

music video from Jay-Z and Beyonce, hosting a black cultural event in a traditionally white-dominated space, the murals on the vault, the gorgeous lights, and the various famous paintings that pass by inadvertently form a great contrast with the modern songs in the music video. There is a line in the music video: “I can’t believe we made it” seems to be telling the audience: Me! Not the old me! Is this music video telling us that we still must have the spirit of resistance when encountering difficulties, maybe one day we can do it?

Whether the life situation is good or bad is determined by the heart. People with a good attitude can find a turning point in adversity and stand up again after failure. … When you have self-confidence, you can cheer up, do everything well with enthusiasm, have the confidence to fight against failure, and succeed more easily.

I also experienced a lot of failures and unsatisfactory in my art career, but because I have a strong interest and pursuit of art, to fulfill my artistic dream, I constantly overcome these difficulties, these failures and difficulties have exercised My willpower also made me more determined to realize my artistic dream.

Activity 2

  • This is the final activity for your online portfolio. It should be a substantial discussion, preferably more than 500 words long.

Week 1: Cultural safety is when everyone’s culture is accepted and celebrated across ethnic groups and cultural backgrounds, and people are free to share their identities and cultures.

Week 4: On reflection, I think this definition could include more elements about using appropriate language and being more open-minded and inclusive. As artists, we have a responsibility to the LGBTQIA+ community to encourage and facilitate communication, create more platforms for them, ensuring that every group has a voice. We are to converse with appropriate and respectful language and benefit together in a harmonious environment of listening, sharing, and understanding.

Week 8: Different cultures are allowed to coexist without homogenization. Recognize the equal value of different cultures and grant equal political, social, and cultural status to all sociocultural groups.

The subject of Cultural Responsibilities and Creative Communities made me realize the importance of cultural diversity, cultural safety, and cultural responsibility. As a typical multi-ethnic immigrant country, Australian society presents multicultural characteristics. For example, 50% of my colleagues are immigrants. Multiculturalism is a core part of Australian life. As an immigrant, I have learned that Australia is highly tolerant of immigrant culture. Where I work, colleagues from different countries can share their festivals and food, I think this is cultural safety, that is, everyone’s culture can be accepted and celebrated in different ethnic groups, and different cultural backgrounds and people can freely share their identities and cultures. I feel that I am recognized, and Australia has become my second home. In the organization I work for, whenever there is an opportunity for job promotion, the leader will remind everyone to apply, and then select the person for promotion based on your length of service, as well as the recommendations of the team leader and colleagues. There are no restrictions on identity, age, or gender, and every employee has a chance. It is also a form of cultural safety: allowing different cultures to coexist without homogenizing. Recognize the equal value of different cultures and grant equal political, social, and cultural status to all sociocultural groups. Cultural Responsibility: We have a responsibility to encourage and facilitate communication among the LGBTQIA+ community, creating more platforms for them and ensuring that every group has a voice. We will speak with appropriate and respectful language and benefit together in a harmonious environment of listening, sharing, and understanding. One of my colleagues at the agency I work for is LGBTQIA+ and she is often morose and doesn’t like talking to other colleagues. But she is a very serious and hardworking person. After I learned about cultural responsibility, I tried to communicate with her, and now we have become good friends.

Before I took this subject, I always took Australia’s safety and prosperity for granted. Now I understand that Australia’s diversity, harmony, and safety are the result of the unremitting efforts of many people. I sincerely admire their dedication and efforts. . But as a member of Australia, I feel that I have the responsibility to contribute to Australia’s multiculturalism. I hope Australia can become a stronger, more inclusive, and diverse country.
