- Dragon Boat Festival in My Memory
The fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar is the traditional festival of the Chinese nation – the Dragon Boat Festival. The main customs of the Dragon Boat Festival include dragon boat racing and eating zongzi. Every year on this day, the scenes of dragon boat racing, making, and eating zongzi will appear in my mind, as if I can still smell the fragrance of my mother cooking zongzi. During the Dragon Boat Festival when I was a child, the rice dumplings were made by the family members themselves. Beside the mahogany square stool, there is a large bamboo basket, in which there are many pieces of drained bamboo leaves, and the room is filled with the fragrance of bamboo leaves. Our brother and sister several squatting on the stool, watching my mother with skilled actions, the bamboo leaves folded into a triangular package, put a big spoon of glutinous rice, and in the middle of the glutinous rice stuffed with a large piece of pork belly marinated with five spices, as well as soaked mung bean, mushroom, and salted egg yolk. The fragrance of bamboo leaves and the sweet taste of glutinous rice, mung beans, and pork belly are smooth and tender, with a rich sweet aroma that melts in your mouth. This is the flavor I miss the most.
Dragon boat racing is the main custom of the Dragon Boat Festival, which is essential in my hometown Guangzhou. On Dragon Boat Festival Day, people come to watch the races along the Pearl River in high spirits. Dragon boats seven- or eight-meters long gallop and dance on the river. Dragon boats can hold 12 to 18 rowers, a leader, and a drummer. The oarsmen, each holding a short oar, strove forward to the beat of the drum. The sea of people on the shore, the sound of drums, and cheering a very spectacular situations.

2. Colorful Gourds – My Daughter
In China, gourds symbolize health and longevity, wealth and auspiciousness, family harmony, and prosperous children and grandchildren. I used three gourds in different colors and patterns to represent my daughter. One is a gourd with a red background, with a simple pattern and bright colors, representing the daughter of the toddlerhood period, energetic and cute. A gourd with a yellow background, with a single pattern and rich colors, represents the daughter of the childhood period simple thinking, kind, loving, and sunshine. A gourd with a blue background, complex patterns, and strong and deep colors, it represents the daughter of the period of adolescence, she is beautiful, generous, very individual, and responsible, she is a very ideal and ambitious person.
These three gourds also represent my love and deep blessing for my daughter.

The story is about Mencius’s mother moving three times
The story is about Mencius’s mother moving three times, Mencius was a famous thinker and educator in ancient China. Like Confucius, Mencius is also a major representative of the Confucian School. When Mencius was young, his mother moved home three times to find a good educational environment for him. At first, they lived near a graveyard, where Mencius constantly imitated people who were holding funerals. Seeing this his mother believed that this place wasn’t good for her son’s education, so they moved to a place near a market. Here, however, Mencius began to imitate people doing business there which made his mother think it wasn’t a good place for him either. Then she moved again, this time near a school. Hereafter, Mencius studied hard and became a sage at last. The story of ‘Mencius’s Mother Moved Thrice’ tells us that environment can change one’s behaviors and habits and having a good environment is very important to one’s development.
The story of Mencius’ mother moving three times touched me a lot. The environment is very important for children to grow up in. When my daughter was young, she lived in Guangzhou, China, which is a bustling metropolis. Every day, my daughter followed her grandmother to go shopping, eat, drink, be merry and watched TV very late at night. Learning is not patient, and then we settled in Toowoomba, living in Pure Land Learn College, she studied Chinese traditional culture at Pure Land Learn College every day, her heart settled down, do things very patiently, and she now become an excellent child.

My father
Although my father has been away from me for more than ten years, his kind smile and busy figure often appear in my mind.
My father always taught us to respect our elders, to be polite, to be an honest and responsible person. My father was a very beloved middle school teacher. He is kind and loving. He is very busy every day. He usually goes to school, corrects homework after getting off work, visits students’ homes, gives free tutoring to those students with poor academic performance, and sends school supplies to those students who are not living well. He has trained many students with excellent character and learning, and he has been grateful and loved by all the people. My father is also a man of many talents. He teaches a wide range of subjects, such as Chinese, mathematics, physics, chemistry, music, painting, English, and so on. He plays the erhu very well. What impressed me the most was that he told us stories. At that time, every night after dinner, he would tell us stories. What he told was the classical Chinese ” Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio”. This novel is a collection of short stories from the early Qing Dynasty, with a total of nearly 500 novels, about folk customs, strange stories, or about the strange changes of all things in the world, with a wide range of themes. ” Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio” depicts a strange and fantastic world for readers. It uses the depiction of fox fairies and ghosts to reflect the various situations in the world, and it has a strong romanticism. It is based on Confucian ethics and shows us some of the author’s views on human beings and human nature – a series of beautiful traditional morals such as benevolence, filial piety, emphasizing righteousness, and despising profit. The stories my father told were very vivid, and these stories deeply attracted me. These stories also gave me a lot of life inspiration.
My father is a loving father and the first teacher in my life. I will always be grateful and miss you.
