Glaze making is much harder than I expected. I am slowly trying to replace all the commercial glazes I use on my functional ware. To start with I am trying pink and green.
First tests – from the front clockwise. 20ishx5 Pink (chrome tin pink Glazy #39156), Southern Oceans (Glazy #38239) with 4% blue stain, with 1% copper carb, with 1% copper carb and 3% rutile, with 3% black stain, with 4% pink stain.
20×5 ish Pink – Success! A good Chrome/Tin pink. Needs to be thick. I also need to get better at dipping.
Southern Oceans (with copper and rutile) needs more work! I added the colourant post mixing and sieving. The glaze needs re sieving and needs to be thicker. Again, struggling with dipping. This glaze also hardpans really badly – considering adding a small amount of epsom salts.
The pink set looks great! Keep going!
