Artist Statement

I grew up in Brisbane in a family where education was valued as a life-long pursuit. I completed my teaching qualifications and went on to achieve a Masters in Educational Leadership. I was in Senior Leadership in various Secondary Colleges in South East Queensland for over 20 years.

I have always had a keen interest in textiles and art and am an award-winning cross stitcher and quilter.

In 2018, I undertook the first of many pottery classes and quickly fell in love with this medium. I am a member of the Darling Downs’ Pottery Club where I learn and draw from the creativity and experience of my peers. I began a Bachelor of Creative Arts at the University of Southern Queensland in 2021 and hope to major in Printmaking and Ceramics.

I am hopeful that through my artwork, my belief in the value of truth and beauty is experienced by others.  Living on acreage, with an ever-changing natural environment, provides me with inspiration for my creative pursuits. My Business Name – Fig Tree Hill Creations – pays homage to a venerable old fig tree on our property.
