Immersive technology and A.I. for learning

Immersive technologies including virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed/extended reality (XR), and digital simulation environments, potentially offer rich and engaging learning experiences through real time engagement of multiple senses. As the technology develops, learners are placed in realistic virtual environments that can stimulate learning through a sense of presence and agency allow them to solve problems and complete simulated tasks. Our immersive technologies projects are exploring these affordances with a strong emphasis on STEM and health disciplines.

AI-assisted software systems can help teachers in schools and higher education to improve their teaching and their students’ learning outcomes. Existing AI projects are focused on the application of AI to online teaching experiences, student feedback and communication during the learning process, and assessment. In addition we are interested in the pedagogical opportunities, educational impacts, and affordances of AI chatbots
