The University of Queensland

Bachelor of Wildlife Science

My experience as a Wildlife Science student was a great experience. I took an extra year to complete my bachelor as I was very focused on gaining work experience in any way I could. Throughout my bachelor, I worked in very different courses and had achieved two Dean’s Commendation for Academic Excellence Awards and finished with a GPA of 6.4.

Throughout this degree, I had gained a wide range of laboratory and field work skills. this bachelor had also given me two jobs which I had greatly enjoyed.

Certificate IV in Captive Animals

At the time of enrolment in the Bachelor of Wildlife Science, there was an open to enroll in a Certificate IV in Captive Animals. The aim was to allow students to complete the certificate at the same time as the bachelor across the three years the degree took to complete. In this certificate, we did weekly volunteering and classes at the University of Queensland’s Wildlife Teaching Facility. The classes were based around the different units and animal handling components. The volunteering component was done on a separate day to allow us to apply the learnt skills in a controlled setting.
