Professional Knowledge

Professional Knowledge refers to the first two Professional Standards for Teaching –

1: Know students and how they learn

2: Know the content and how to teach it

It is paramount that any pre-service teacher entering the profession be equipped with the knowledge of what and how to teach. This is also where a pre-service teacher’s ability to differentiate for the needs of learners may be demonstrated, and also their ability to work with consideration to the community, cultural and linguistic needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
