VoiceThread is an online presentation that allows people to discuss media by making comments that combine voice, video, or text, and annotations. People participate whenever and wherever they want facilitating engaging and active asynchronous learning experiences.

These conversations aren’t live – they just feel that way.

There are numerous ways that you can organise your VoiceThreads:

  • an asynchronous interview
  • getting to know you forum
  • book club for shared readings
  • digital presentation
  • QandA at specific points in a video
  • sharing ideas

Why use Voicethread?

Voicethread is a great tool to use for fostering student engagement. It works well for…

  • Behavioural engagement – The different templates provide a variety of options for sharing and responses
  • Social engagement – Participants can share via text, audio, video and hyperlinks. They can also ‘like’ or rate a post or comment emulating a social media environment
  • Collaborative engagement – The digital environment supports peer to peer interaction, learning with peers and teachers, and co-creation of knowledge.

Increased participation from students

Image shows the number of students who commented (were active) on one slide and in the whole voicethread (module) in a course at UniSQ.
