Jo Southern
I have been nursing for 34 years comprising of clinical, management, and educational experience. My focus for the last 10 years has been on sharing my knowledge as a lecturer for both undergraduate students both in clinical skills and theoretical knowledge and all healthcare professionals in the post graduate space. I have degrees in nursing, education, and law and my main focus is on professionalism, law and ethics in healthcare. I am now a PhD candidate focusing on immersive technology in healthcare education and I have been with TechDem since its inception. I have piloted, and still use, a number of technologies that have been introduced via TechDem in my teaching, along with other technologies such as InteliLearn MedSafe, which I was instrumental in introducing into the School of Nursing.
I love technology and using it to improve student engagement and connectivity. I also help nursing students to become more comfortable with using technology they are unfamiliar with, which in turn helps them to prepare for the healthcare environments they will work in.
Favourite Learning Tech:
These are tools I use often:
H5P, Padlet, Engageli, Cava, WordPress Portfolio, MedSafe, Kahoot
I’m willing to share what I have learnt, and how I use technology, with anyone via video, zoom talks, written material, and whatever you would like me to do.
