Dr Julie Lindsay
I have a 35+ years career in higher education and K-12 schools and worked in international schools for fifteen years as an educational technology leader across Asia, Africa and the Middle East. As a leader in online learning my passion is for online global collaboration and I authored two books supporting learners and educators: ‘Flattening Classrooms, Engaging Minds: Move to global collaboration one step at a time’, and ‘The Global Educator: Leveraging Technology for Collaborative Learning and Teaching’. I am an Apple Distinguished Educator (ADE, 2010), and a Google Certified Innovator (2014). My PhD research is about online global collaborative educators and pedagogical change.
As an innovator I like to solve learning challenges and foster excitement around educational technologies to improve engagement and personal outcomes. Learning design for synchronous and asynchronous modes, interactive and personal learning and student autonomy are key interests.
As convenor of the Technology Demonstrators community at USQ I collaborate with particiapnts across all disciplines and sections and oversee digital initiatives. My goal is to make edtech ubiquitous in the learning process.
Key areas of interest….ask me about:
- Student portfolios for assessment, autonomy, ‘brand of me’ and employability (Create@USQ WordPress project)
- Online collaborative learning – local and global (Online Collaborative Learning SIG) including design, management and assessment
- Digital tools and associated pedagogies that facilitate and support connection, communication, choice, collaboration and creation for community building and different modes of learning
Favourite Learning Tech:
- Padlet
- VoiceThread
- Engageli
- FlipGrid
- Collaboration tools such as wiki’s and Google docs
