Our first Student Portfolio SIG for 2023 explored the following topics:

• Sneak preview of the NEWLY developed Create@UniSQ website with a self-serve option (image above) c/o our web design guru Jo Kay
• Rubrics for portfolio assessment – where we considered the role played by generative AI text (such as ChatGPT)
• Taking a program approach to portfolios – what is your school/degree doing?

It was a full agenda in an hour! We will need to revisit these topics again as the year progresses.

How can ChatGPT help with rubric assessment?

Recently I asked ChatGPT to design rubrics for assessment. The first one I asked: “Design a rubric with four criteria for a professional online portfolio for employability purposes”

The second example I asked: “Design a rubric to assess a student in higher education who has created a professional online portfolio using the criteria “collect, select, reflect, connect”

You can see there is some merit in using this approach as a starting point for teasing out specific criteria. SIG member Neil Martin shared this excellent example of a Critical Reflection Rubric that could be used in conjunction with key criteria above.
