Pilots and Champions

Pilot and a small aircraft

Have you ever considered piloting a new technology?

If you haven’t, would you like to?

The first fortnight of this semester has seen the Engageli platform piloted across USQ within eight different courses and by twelve different academics. The number of students involved in the pilot has seen USQ earn the title of the largest pilot group for Engageli in the Southern Hemisphere.

Being part of the pilot process has made me a devoted advocate for the platform and filled me with respect for the USQ champions who have been involved. These staff have put their hands up, given their time, and joined us in uncharted territory–all to benefit their students.  Hats off to you all!

The Engageli pilot has also made me wonder why people sign up for pilots and why they might choose not to.

Certainly, there are risks and benefits–we’ve all experienced tech mishaps–but surely the benefits outweigh the risks.

  • There’s extensive support: Those piloting the Engageli platform have been supported by the TechDems team, Engageli staff, and a suite of resources created specifically for them.
  • You’re not alone: Pilots have had the chance to work collaboratively with each other and Engageli staff, who have been heavily invested in the pilot.
  • Pilots have agency: Engageli pilots will have a voice within the broader context of USQ ICT, helping us to decide if it is a viable platform for the entire community.

…and then there’s the excitement of trying something new.

There’s just one question then: Are you a pilot and a champion?
